Haworthia fasciata 'Big Band'
F00001289
Origin
The Echeveria chinensis, also known as Chinese Echeveria, originates from the dry regions of Mexico. It is part of the Crassulaceae family, which is known for its diverse range of succulent plants. Over the years, this species of plant has spread and today, the Echeveria chinensis grows successfully in numerous different climates worldwide.
Characteristics
The Echeveria chinensis sets itself apart with its rosette form and grows to a height of approximately 15 cm. This plant is characterised by its fleshy, olive-green leaves with pink edges which exhibit a waxy layer. While the leaves grow closely together in a concentric form, the Echeveria chinensis also produces yellow flowers with red stripes that jut out above the leaves, typically in the spring.
Care
For the care of the Echeveria chinensis, it's recommended to place it in a location with ample light, but direct sunlight should be avoided to prevent burning of the leaves. Waterings should be done sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out in between waterings to avoid root rot. The plant can also be repotted, for example, if the leaves lose their colour due to cramped growing conditions. The optimum temperature for growth lies between 10°C and 25°C.
