Origin
The Marginatocereus marginatus, also known as the Organ Pipe cactus, originates from regions of Mexico. The plant primarily grows in desert-like areas and mountainous regions, where the climate is predominantly dry and hot.
Characteristics
The Organ Pipe cactus is characterised by its tall, cylindrical trunks that grow in single or multiple clusters. It can grow up to about three metres high. The plant produces white or pink flowers in the summer months. A distinguishing feature of the Marginatocereus marginatus is the deep grooves along the trunks, giving the plant its characteristic appearance.
Care
The care for the Marginatocereus marginatus requires good drainage, as the plant is sensitive to excess moisture. The plant loves plenty of sunlight, and the soil needs to fully dry out between waterings. Although the plant is reasonably resistant to lower temperatures, it's important to protect it from frost and cold winds.
