Origin
The Alocasia Wentii is a tropical plant species that originally comes from the humid regions of Southeast Asia. This plant is also known as the 'elephant's ear plant' because of its large, elephant ear-like leaves. It mainly grows in the undergrowth of the rainforest.
Characteristics
The Alocasia Wentii is characterised by its striking, shiny leaves, which are dark green in colour and have a bronze back. The plant can grow up to 1.5 metres tall and has stalks that are thick and fleshy. The leaves can grow up to 30 centimetres long and have a typical heart-shaped appearance, with the tip pointed downwards.
Care
The Alocasia Wentii needs a bright and humid environment, but not direct sunlight. The soil needs to be well-draining and regularly moistened, without the plant standing in water. In a worst-case scenario, the plant can withstand frost down to one degree by covering the root bulb in the winter. A weekly spray is greatly appreciated by the Alocasia Wentii.
