DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Areca catechu dwarf, also known as the dwarf betel palm, has its origin in the tropical parts of Asia. This species is mainly found in the Philippines, Malaysia and South India, where the palm grows under natural conditions. The plant has historically had both economic and medicinal value for various cultures in these regions.

Characteristics
The Areca catechu dwarf is a compact, multi-trunked palm that can grow to a height of approximately 6 metres. The leaves of the plant are feather-shaped and can reach a length of 1.2 to 2 metres, with numerous narrow, pointed leaflets along the stem. The plant also produces yellow flowers and small red fruits. In contrast to its larger relative, the regular Areca catechu, the dwarf variant is characterised by slower growth and a denser crown of leaves.

Care
The care for the Areca catechu dwarf requires a consistent, warm temperature and high humidity, similar to its natural tropical habitat. The plant prefers bright, indirect light and should be protected from intense sun. The soil needs to be well-drained and the plant requires regular watering to maintain a moist soil. Additionally, care should be taken to ensure that the palm is not exposed to cold drafts or temperatures below 13 degrees Celsius.
