Origin
The Homalomena rubescens 'Maggy', also known as the Homalomena Maggy, is a tropical plant species that originally hails from the rainforests of Southeast Asia. This genus belongs to the Araceae family, also known as the arum family.
Characteristics
The Homalomena rubescens 'Maggy' is characterized by its lush crown of glossy, heart-shaped leaves that grow in a tight rosette. The plant has a deep green colour that can vary from light green to almost black under the right light conditions. Moreover, this plant reaches an average height of about 60 to 80 centimetres. The Homalomena Maggy has sturdy stems that allow the plant to hold its leaves high.
Care
Although the Homalomena rubescens 'Maggy' is naturally a tropical plant, it can adapt well to indoor climates. However, the plant does need high humidity and does well in indirect light. Overwatering should be avoided, as this can lead to root rot. The soil of this plant needs to stay moist but should not become waterlogged. The plant prefers a warm spot but cannot withstand direct sunlight. As it is a fast grower, it may be necessary to repot the plant regularly.
