Origin
The Peperomia argyreia, also known as the Watermelon Peperomia, originates from South America. This plant species primarily grows in the shadowy tropical forests of Brazil. The plant is part of the Piperaceae family, which is represented globally with over 1500 different species.

Characteristics
The Peperomia argyreia has a distinct appearance with its striking leaf patterns. The sturdy, heart-shaped leaves have a deep green colour with silvery stripes, making them resemble a watermelon skin. The plant remains compact, with a maximum height of about 30 centimetres. The Peperomia argyreia rarely blossoms, but when it does, thin, white flower stems appear.

Care
The Peperomia argyreia requires an indirect light source and thrives best at average to high humidity. The plant dislikes too much water; it is recommended to wait until the soil is completely dry before watering again. In the winter, the need for watering can be significantly reduced. It is also important to place the plant in a well-draining soil type, for example potting soil mixed with orchid compost or perlite. The ideal air temperature for the development of this plant is between 15 and 24 degrees Celsius.
