Beaucarnea recurvata 'Nolina'

Origin
The Podocarpus macrophyllus, also known as the yew pine, is a type of evergreen conifer that originally comes from Eastern Asia, particularly from southern Japan and southern China. This tree has a long history of use in landscaping and horticulture in these regions, as it is resistant to various climates and soil pH levels.
Characteristics
The Podocarpus macrophyllus is a slow-growing tree that can vary in size from 1 to 25 metres high, depending on the conditions. The tree is characterised by its scale-like leaves, which are alternatingly arranged and bear a deep green colour. The bark of the tree is brown to grey and typically has a rough texture. The flowers are inconspicuous and the fruits are small, bright red berries that sit on a fleshy, green foot.
Care
The yew pine requires little maintenance and is quite tolerant of drought, but does require well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade for growth. The tree lends itself well to pruning and is therefore often used for bonsai or topiary. When transplanting the Podocarpus macrophyllus, it should be gradually adjusted to direct sunlight to prevent leaf scorch. Fertilising the plant regularly during the growing season can promote healthy growth.
