Origin
The Schefflera actinophylla 'Amate' has its roots in the tropical rainforests of Australia and New Zealand. This plant species is known there under the name 'Lluvia de Oro', or 'Rain of Gold'. Over the years, the plant has spread across various subtropical areas where it is often used as a houseplant.

Characteristics
The Schefflera actinophylla 'Amate' is an elegant houseplant that is characterised by its bulbous growth and shiny green leaves. The plant has a compact growth form and can reach a mature height between 160 to 220 centimetres. The leaves are characterised by their palm-like structure and their size, which at maturity is usually between 20 and 30 centimetres. The plant rarely produces flowers, but the specimens that do display red or pink blossoms.

Care
For the care of the Schefflera actinophylla 'Amate', it is important to consider its tropical origin. The plant requires a bright location, but prefers not to have direct sunlight. It also prefers high humidity, just like in its natural habitat. Watering two to three times a week is usually sufficient, but this frequency can be reduced in winter.
