Origin
The Euonymus alatus, also known as winged spindle or cork tree, finds its origin in parts of Asia, particularly China, Japan, and Korea. The plant is used worldwide as an ornamental plant, mainly because of its striking autumn colours and unique wing-shaped branches.

Characteristics
The Euonymus alatus is a compact, deciduous shrub that generally reaches a height of three to five meters. This plant is especially known for its spectacular autumn colours, with the leaves changing from green to vibrant shades of red and purple. Moreover, the Euonymus alatus has distinctive, cork-like wings on its branches that enhance its visual appeal.

Care
For optimal growth and development, the Euonymus alatus needs a location in full sun or partial shade. The plant thrives well in well-draining soil and prefers a neutral to slightly acidic pH. Although the Euonymus alatus is drought-resistant, it benefits from regular watering during dry periods. Pruning is usually not required unless the plant becomes too large for the space.
