Origin
The Mammillaria karwinskiana, also known as the Silver Arrows, originates from Mexico. Specifically, in the dry and semi-desert areas of Querétaro and Hidalgo, this type of cactus grows on gravelly and rocky surfaces.

Characteristics
The Mammillaria karwinskiana is characterized by its cylindrical, dark green stems that are covered in white thorns. The stems can grow up to 30 cm high and they grow in clusters. In spring, the pink or red flowers bloom, which are located around the top of the stem. The dark seed boxes that form after flowering are particularly notable.

Care
The Mammillaria karwinskiana requires a sunny location, but can also tolerate partial shade. It is advisable to allow the soil to dry out properly before watering again, as overwatering can be harmful to the cactus. During the winter months, the cactus needs little to no water, and if possible, the plant should be protected from frost.
