Origin
The Mammillaria nejapensis, also known as the Royal Crown cactus, finds its origin in the southern regions of Mexico. Here, it grows mainly in the regions of Oaxaca and Puebla, where the climate is predominantly dry. This contributes to its adaptability in dry conditions.

Characteristics
The Mammillaria nejapensis is a striking spherical cactus, famous for its unique structure and impressive blossoms. It has dark green, cylindrical stems covered with small, dense, white hairs, and usually grows as a single stem, although it does have the ability to form clusters. From March to May, the plant produces beautiful bright red to pink flowers, making it a popular choice among cactus enthusiasts.

Care
In terms of the care of the Mammillaria nejapensis, it is important to know that this plant loves lots of sunlight and well-draining soil. To mimic its natural habitat, it is advised to water it in accordance with the natural, dry climate in which it grows. Overwatering may lead to root rot, whereby it is sensible to only water the plant when the soil is completely dry. In the winter, the plant requires little to no water and it is wise to shield the cactus from temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius.
