Origin
The Echeveria heart signal, also known as Echeveria 'Love's Wish', is a type of succulent originally from the dry regions of Mexico and Central America. The plant belongs to the Crassulaceae family and is named after the 18th-century Spanish botanist Atanasio Echeverría y Godoy. In these regions, it grows naturally amongst rocks and on dry slopes, where it has adapted to the dry and warm conditions.
Characteristics
The Echeveria heart signal is recognisable by its heart-shaped, fleshy leaves that grow in a rosette shape. The leaves are green in colour with striking red edges, providing a beautiful contrast. The plant tends to stay compact and usually grows up to a height of 10 to 20 centimetres. In the spring, the plant produces clusters of orange-pink flowers on long, upright stems.
Care
When taking care of the Echeveria heart signal, it is important to provide enough sunlight, as the plant prefers at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. The plant requires well-draining soil and should only be watered when the soil has completely dried out. Watering should be reduced in the winter, as the plant goes through a rest phase during this period. Finally, it's advised to protect the plant from frost, as it's not frost-hardy.
