Origin
The Euphorbia horrida, also known as the African milk tree, originates from South Africa. It is native to the dry and rocky areas of the Eastern Cape province in particular. These regions provide the ideal conditions for this succulent to grow and flourish.

Characteristics
Euphorbia horrida belongs to the euphorbia family and is characterised by its prickly, cylindrical shape. These prickles are not only ornamental, but also serve as protection against herbivores. The plant produces small, yellow flowers, which strongly contrast with the grey-green colour of the stems. The Euphorbia horrida can reach a height of 1.8 metres, but usually stays smaller indoors.

Care
There are several points to take into account when caring for the Euphorbia horrida. Firstly, the plant requires plenty of light and does well under direct sunlight. In the summer, the plant needs regular watering, whilst in winter the soil should be allowed to dry out between watering to prevent root rot. It is also advisable to place the plant in a well-draining soil to prevent excess water.
