Origin
The Coryphantha elephantipens is a cactus species that originally hails from northern Mexico. The plant predominantly grows in desert-like areas with a dry climate. It can be found there on limestone-rich soils. The Coryphantha elephantipens is also known by the name 'elephant's foot'.

Characteristics
The Coryphantha elephantipens is a spherical cactus that grows in diameter at a slow pace. The plant is characterised by its thick, ribbed stems with fine spines. In the spring and summer period, the cactus produces bright yellow flowers, which develop from the top of the plant. The plant reaches a mature height of about 30 cm.

Care
The care of the Coryphantha elephantipens requires some attention, especially when it is kept outside its natural habitat. The cactus prefers full sun and should be planted in well-draining soil to prevent root rot. During the growing period, the plant needs regular watering, but water should be reduced during the winter months.
