Euphorbia aeruginosa
Product number : F00001772Origin
The Euphorbia aeruginosa is a succulent that originally comes from South Africa, specifically the Western Cape. It belongs to the Euphorbiaceae family, a large plant family with an impressive diversity of species that thrive in different climatic regions all over the world. In its natural environment, the plant can be found in rocky areas, where it has adapted well to dry, poor soil conditions.
Characteristics
Euphorbia aeruginosa has several striking characteristics that distinguish it from other Euphorbia species. The plant grows in a characteristic candelabra shape, with multiple branching stems which reach a height of 30cm - 60cm. Each cylindrical stem is equipped with rows of noticeable spines, giving the plant somewhat of a hostile appearance. The plant flowers in the spring and early summer, with small yellow flowers appearing on top of the stems.
Care
Despite its spikey appearance, the Euphorbia aeruginosa requires relatively little maintenance. The plant has a strong preference for a full sun position, but can also thrive in semi-shade. Like other succulents, it needs well-draining soil to prevent root rot and should be watered moderately, especially in the summer. In winter, the plant should barely receive any water. It is also important to know that this succulent is sensitive to low temperatures and should be taken indoors when temperatures drop below freezing point.
