Origin
The Echeveria agavoides red tips, also known as the 'Lipstick Echeveria', originates from the rocky areas of Mexico. This succulent is part of the Crassulaceae family, a large family of hardy plants. In their natural habitat, these plants have adapted to dry, barren conditions, making them ideal for growing in warm, dry climates.
Characteristics
This specific variety of Echeveria distinguishes itself by its bright, apple-green leaves that grow in a neat rosette around the centre of the plant. What makes the Echeveria agavoides red tips unique are the noticeable red tips on the ends of the leaves. This colour becomes more intense as the plant is exposed to more sunlight. The plant tends to stay compact, generally not exceeding 15 cm in height and width.
Care
As for its care, the Echeveria agavoides red tips requires well-draining soil, full to partial sun and moderate watering. Overwatering should be avoided as this can lead to root rot. It is advisable to bring the plant indoors during winter, as it cannot withstand severe frost. Care also includes annual fertilisation during the growing season to promote healthy growth.
