Kalanchoe Thyrsiflora
F00000410
Origin
The Rhipsalis baccifera, also known as the mistletoe cactus, has a unique geo-ecological diversity, as it is the only cactus that occurs in both the old and new world. The origin of this epiphytic cactus extends across South, Central and North America and parts of the West Indies and Africa.
Characteristics
The Rhipsalis baccifera is a hanging or ascending, versatile plant with round or flat, pendulous, fleshy stems. This cactus doesn't produce thorns, but instead, small, white flowers followed by round, white to transparent fruits resembling berries. It has a lush, fine, green colour that becomes brighter in the shade and grayer in full sunlight.
Care
This cactus prefers a semi-shaded to shady environment and requires a well-draining soil mix in order to survive. Although it can withstand some drought, it must be watered regularly, but excess water should be avoided in order to prevent root rot. The Rhipsalis baccifera requires a relatively high humidity and the temperature should be kept between 15 and 23 degrees Celsius for optimal growth.
