Origin
The Crassula arborescens subsp. undilatifolia 'Curly', commonly known as the Curly Jade, is originally from South Africa. The plant primarily grows in rocky areas with little rainfall. Over the years, the plant has been introduced to various parts of the world because of its aesthetic value and easy care.
Characteristics
The Curly Jade is a succulent, characterised by its striking, slightly wavy leaves. These leaves are often blue-green in colour with red edges and can reach a length of 5-8 cm. The plant tends to take on a bushy growth habit and can grow up to 30 cm high. In the spring, small, star-shaped flowers may appear, providing a graceful contrast to the robust leaves.
Care
Because the Curly Jade is a succulent, it requires little water and is very tolerant of drought. The plant grows best in full sunlight but can also survive in partial shade. It is recommended to place the plant in well-draining soil to prevent root rot. During the winter months, it is best to keep the plant in a cool but frost-free location.
