Polaskia chichipe
F00001504
Origin
The Espostoa guentheri originates from South America, more specifically the dry regions of Peru and Ecuador. This species of cactus grows in the wild at altitudes between 1,000 and 2,500 metres above sea level, where the climate is predominantly dry with a moderate temperature.
Characteristics
Espostoa guentheri is a cylindrical cactus that can reach a height of up to 4 metres in its natural habitat. This cactus has long, white hairs that grow all around it, giving it a unique appearance. The plant produces small, pink flowers that usually open at night and close by morning.
Care
When caring for Espostoa guentheri, it is important to provide sufficient sunlight and a well-draining soil, such as cactus mix, to prevent root rot. During the growth period, from spring to autumn, the cactus should be watered regularly, but make sure the soil dries out between watering sessions. In the winter, the plant hardly needs any water. A constant temperature between 10 and 30 degrees Celsius is ideal for this species of cactus. It is also important to note that Espostoa guentheri grows slowly, so repotting is only occasionally necessary.
