Origin
The Pleomele (Dracaena) 'Anita', also known as Dracaena reflexa 'Anita', originates from Madagascar, an island off the southeastern coast of Africa. This plant species belongs to the Asparagaceae family and has spread all over the world since its discovery, particularly in warm, tropical climates.
Characteristics
There are several distinguishing characteristics that make the Pleomele 'Anita' so popular among both botanists and garden enthusiasts. It is an evergreen plant with graceful stems and narrow, spiral leaves. The leaves are deep green in colour and have a shiny, waxy texture. This plant can reach a height of up to four metres under ideal conditions, but usually stays smaller in domestic circumstances.
Care
In terms of care for the Pleomele 'Anita', it requires a spot with indirect light and is resistant to both dry and humid conditions. The room temperature should ideally be between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius. Too much water is detrimental to the plant, so slightly moist soil is optimal without water standing in the bottom of the pot. Monthly fertilisation during the growth period is recommended for optimal growth and wellbeing of the plant.
