Origin
The Dracaena mix, also known as Dragon Tree, has its origin in Africa, South Asia and Central America. These plants are primarily found in subtropical and tropical regions. The name Dracaena is derived from the Greek word ‘drakaina’, which means female dragon. This refers to the red resin that some species produce, which resembles dragon's blood.
Characteristics
The Dracaena mix is a group of various Dracaena species. The defining characteristics are the long, narrow leaves that grow from a central trunk. The leaves range in colour from green to red, depending on the species. Some Dracaena species can grow into large trees, while others are more shrub-like. The plants are known for their air-purifying properties.
Care
The Dracaena mix is a relatively easy plant to care for. The plants don't require much water, and it is recommended to let the soil dry out between watering. They prefer indirect light, but can also survive in shady environments. Although they are resistant to a wide range of temperatures, they thrive best in a warm environment of around 20-22 degrees Celsius. It is advisable to regularly dust the leaves to keep the plant healthy.
