Origin
The Dracaena fragrans 'Janet Craig' originates from West Africa, notably from countries such as Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, and Cameroon. The plant belongs to the Asparagaceae family and is a popular houseplant in many parts of the world. It is sometimes referred to as the 'striped dracaena'.

Characteristics
The Dracaena fragrans 'Janet Craig' is characterized by its shiny, dark green leaves that feel leathery. The plant can reach a height of about 10-15 metres in the wild, but indoors it usually stays around 1.5-3 metres. The leaves of the plant grow in a spiral arrangement around the trunk and can become up to 60 cm long. The Dracaena fragrans 'Janet Craig' rarely blooms indoors, but when it does, it produces small, white, fragrant flowers.

Care
The Dracaena fragrans 'Janet Craig' is a low-maintenance houseplant and prefers medium indirect light. It can also survive in low light conditions, but the growth rate may then decrease. The plant should be watered regularly, but too much water can cause root rot. It is therefore recommended to only water the plant again when the top layer of the soil feels dry. The Dracaena fragrans 'Janet Craig' thrives at room temperatures between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius and is not tolerant to cold draughts.
