DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Citrus aurantifolia 'Limequat' is a hybrid plant species that was created from the cross-breeding of the Key Lime and the Kumquat. This dwarf citrus was developed by Walter Tennyson Swingle in the United States in the early 20th century. The plant species therefore cannot be found in the wild, but is primarily grown in nurseries.

Characteristics
Characteristic of the 'Limequat' is its small size, making it ideally suited for pot culture. The plant yields fruits that resemble the size and shape of the Kumquat, but the taste and smell are more similar to that of the Key Lime. The fruits are edible and widely used in the kitchen. Additionally, the plant has shiny, green leaves and white blossoms that appear in the spring.

Care
The care of the Citrus aurantifolia 'Limequat' requires regular irrigation and feeding. The plant loves a sunny location but can tolerate shade and is resistant to frost. It is important to keep the soil in which the plant grows well-draining and nutrient-rich to promote healthy growth. Pruning the plant is recommended to maintain the shape and control excessive growth.
