The Ilex crenata 'Impala' is a broad-branched shrub with small, leathery, dark green leaves. This compact shrub can reach a height up to 1 meter and in late spring and early summer it blooms with a few small white flowers. Afterwards, black berries form in the autumn. The leaves are roundish and have fine serrated edges, hence the nickname 'crenata'.
