Origin
The Pinus pumila 'Glauca', also known as the Siberian dwarf pine, originates from Northeast Asia. This hardwood, evergreen tree is naturally found in the cold taiga zones of Russia, Japan, North Korea and China. For its ability to survive harsh winters, the 'Glauca' is often found on the alpine belts of these regions.

Characteristics
The Pinus pumila 'Glauca' is a dwarf conifer with a polymorphic shape. This compact, slow-growing tree has bright bluish-green needles and produces small, brown cone-shaped fruits. With its maximum growth height of two metres, this dwarf pine provides impressive aesthetic value for landscapes. The thick, dense form of the tree also makes it resistant to heavy snow loads.

Care
The Siberian dwarf pine has few requirements for its environment, but does have some specific needs. This tree prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Although it is resistant to cold temperatures, protection from harsh wind and heavy frost should be considered for optimal growth. Regular watering is also essential, especially during prolonged drought periods. The Pinus pumila 'Glauca' requires little maintenance and only exceptionally needs to be pruned.
