Anthurium 'Birdnest'
Product number : 4ANBIBU27Origin
The Anthurium 'Birdnest', also known as the 'Bird's Nest Anthurium', has its origin in the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. This exotic plant is used to shady areas underneath the dense leaf canopies of primeval forests and is therefore well adapted to grow in less sunny conditions.
Characteristics
The 'Birdnest' displays unique characteristics that justify its name. The plant exhibits strikingly large leaves that grow in a nest-like shape. These leathery leaves are a deep green colour and can grow up to 1 metre in length. The Birdnest's flowers are less prominent, appearing as small, subtle inflorescences among the leaves.
Care
The Anthurium 'Birdnest' prefers a warm, humid and shady environment, similar to its natural habitat in the rainforests of Central and South America. Watering should be done moderately; the soil can be moist but not soaked. In addition, the plant requires high humidity, so it's advisable to frequently mist the plant. Lastly, the plant is sensitive to cold and drafts, therefore a location near a window or door is not the most favourable place.
