Beaucarnea recurvata 6/tray
Stem
4BERERS01
Origin
The Podocarpus gracilior, also known as the African Yellowwood, finds its origin in the high-altitude areas of East Africa where a subtropical climate prevails. This evergreen tree is primarily found in countries such as Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda.
Characteristics
Podocarpus gracilior is especially beloved for its decorative characteristics and use as a windbreaker or hedgerow in landscape gardens. The tree has glossy, threadlike, dark green leaves and can reach a height of 12 to 20 metres. The male and female cones are found on separate trees, with the males being quite small and the females growing into juicy, blue-purple fruits.
Care
The Podocarpus gracilior requires relatively low maintenance. It thrives best in full sun to semi-shade and prefers well-draining soil. Furthermore, the tree requires regular watering during times of drought. This plant generally does not suffer from serious diseases or pests, but it can be susceptible to root rot if it is in waterlogged soil. The trimming of the tree for management or to maintain its shape can take place at any time of the year.
