Origin
The Gasteria carinata var. verrucosa, also known as warted gasteria, is a succulent plant native to South Africa. It is a unique species of the Gasteria genus and is often found in the dry, rocky areas in the Western and Eastern Cape regions.
Characteristics
This remarkable plant is recognisable by its long, pointed, pointed leaves that typically grow in two rows. The leaf colour varies from green to red-brown, depending on the amount of sunlight the plant receives. The leaves are covered with tiny white warts. Another notable characteristic is the blooming process: the plant produces flower spikes with tubular, red- or pink-like flowers that typically appear in late spring or early summer.
Care
Optimal care for the Gasteria carinata var. verrucosa includes placing the plant in well-draining soil and offering sufficient, but not excessive watering. Although it is resistant to a lot of light, this species thrives best in partial shade or indirect light. Its temperature preference is around room temperature, but it can tolerate cold up to approximately 10 °C. During the winter months, watering should be reduced.
