Origin
The Nephrolepis cordifolia 'Duffii', also known as the 'Lemon Button Fern', originates from tropical and subtropical areas worldwide, in particular Asia and Africa. This fern species has adapted to various types of habitats and climates but prefers to grow in moist, shady forests.
Characteristics
The 'Duffii' is a compact, evergreen fern with shiny, leather-like leaves, green-gold strands, and bright, orange sporangia. The plant is known for its distinct 'spoon shape', hence the name Lemon Button Fern. The fern can reach a height of 60 to 90 centimetres, and has a grass-like texture.
Care
Despite being a subtropical plant, the 'Duffii' has minimal lighting requirements and can grow in both sunny and semi-shady locations. It is important to regularly water the plant to keep the soil moist, without saturating it. The 'Duffii' prefers high humidity, making it advisable to regularly spray the plant with water. In general, the 'Duffii' is a robust plant that can be effectively grown as an indoor plant.
