DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Malus domestica, better known as the apple tree, is originally from Central Asia. The tree was domesticated thousands of years ago and spread across the world with the help of humans. Fossils prove that wild apple trees have existed for millions of years, even before humans started horticulture.

Characteristics
The beautiful, white-pink blossoms that appear in the spring are characteristic of the Malus domestica. Not much later, the fruits develop, and in the autumn the apples can be harvested. The leaves are oval in shape and have a serrated edge. The tree grows best in temperate climates and can reach a height of 2 to 12 metres, depending on the variety.

Care
The Malus domestica requires good care to flourish. The tree needs full sun and a well-drained soil. During dry periods, it's important to water regularly. Pruning is a key part of the maintenance and is usually carried out in late winter or early spring, before the new bloom.
