Origin
The Hoya 'Mathilde' is a hybrid plant that has its origin in Southeast Asia. This species was first developed in Belgium and named after a beloved family member of the discoverer. 'Mathilde' is a product of two other Hoya variants: Hoya carnosa and Hoya serpens.

Characteristics
The Hoya 'Mathilde' is characterised by its small, round leaves which have a somewhat waxy appearance. These green, striking leaves are compact in nature and are accompanied by small star-shaped flowers. These flowers are often white and have a pleasant, sweet scent. A unique characteristic of the 'Mathilde' is its ability to form roots along the vines.

Care
The Hoya 'Mathilde' needs plenty of light, but should not be placed in direct sunlight. It is also important to water the plant regularly, but the soil should be dry between watering to prevent root rot. The 'Mathilde' prefers high humidity and is not hardy, hence it must be kept indoors in areas with cold winters. Pruning can be done to maintain the shape and stimulate growth.
