Origin
The Larix decidua Little Bogle, also known as the Dwarf Larch, is a compact variation of the European larch, originally from the mountain ranges of Central Europe. This species was cultivated in the 19th century and has since spread across the world, primarily as an ornamental and bonsai tree.
Characteristics
The Larix decidua Little Bogle is distinguished by its small size and compact growth, making it ideal for small-scale gardens. With an average height of only 1 to 1.5 meters, this conifer offers an attractive, bright green spring and summer colour, which turns into a yellow-orange hue in autumn. In addition, the Dwarf Larch produces needle-like leaves that grow in bunches and woody cones as fruit.
Care
The Larix decidua Little Bogle is not particularly demanding about its growing environment. It prefers well-drained soil and can cope well with full sun to partial shade. Despite its frost-hardiness, frost protection may be necessary in extremely cold climates. Regular pruning contributes to maintaining its compact shape, while annual fertilization in early spring promotes growth.
