DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Juniperus x pfitzeriana 'Mint Julep', also known as the Pfitzer Juniper, is a hybrid coniferous tree. The tree was created by crossing the Juniperus sabina and Juniperus virginiana. This so-called male-like juniper was first recorded in the United States around 1936, but is now grown worldwide for its aesthetic value.

Characteristics
The Juniperus x pfitzeriana 'Mint Julep' is an evergreen plant with scale-like needles and forms a wide-growing, low-bush. The plant produces bluish cones that resemble berries when mature. This juniper is characterised by its striking mint green foliage colour, hence the name 'Mint Julep'. Its unique shade, combined with a dense, well-kept growth habit, makes it an attractive element for many garden designs.

Care
This plant requires little maintenance and is very versatile in terms of growth conditions. It tolerates both full sun and partial shade, but the best colour is achieved with full sun. The 'Mint Julep' is fairly tolerant to drought, but grows best in well-drained soil and requires regular watering until it is fully established. Pruning is not necessary, unless you want to maintain a specific shape; this should be done in the spring. It is important to note that this plant is susceptible to pinewood nematodes, so regular inspection is recommended.
