Taxus baccata 'Fastigiata'
F00003841
Origin
The Juniperus squamata 'Blue Carpet', also known as the Blue Juniper, has its origin in the Himalayas and surrounding mountain regions of Asia. It is an evergreen conifer used as a garden plant in the Netherlands and Belgium, due to its ornamental appearance and ease of maintenance.
Characteristics
The Juniperus squamata 'Blue Carpet' is characterised by its blue-grey, needle-like leaves and creeping growth habit. The plant can reach a height of about 40 centimetres, but spreads much wider, sometimes up to 2 meters. This means the plant is often used as a ground cover. In the spring, the plant develops small flowers and in the autumn berries may appear, although this is not a guarantee.
Care
The care for the Juniperus squamata 'Blue Carpet' is relatively simple. The plant prefers sunny to semi-shade locations and well-draining soil. Although the plant is drought-tolerant, regular watering is recommended, especially during prolonged periods of drought. Pruning is usually not necessary, unless the plant grows too far beyond its boundaries.
