Fargesia murieliae 'Jumbo'
Bush
5FAMJBU29
Origin
The Taxus x media 'Hillii' is a cross between the Taxus baccata and the Taxus cuspidata, two types of yew from Europe and Asia. The plant originated in North America in the late 19th century. Since then, the 'Hillii' has spread worldwide and is mostly found nowadays in gardens and parks.
Characteristics
The Taxus x media 'Hillii' is a slow-growing, evergreen shrub with dark green needles that add colour to the garden all year round. The plant grows compactly and can spread widely. Typical for the 'Hillii' are the ascending branches and the absence of the red berries that do occur in many other yew varieties. The plant can reach an age of many years.
Care
Caring for the Taxus x media 'Hillii' begins with choosing the right location. This plant prefers a position in semi-shade or full sun and well-drained, fertile soil. Although low maintenance, an annual pruning in late spring will maintain the shape and compactness of the plant. During dry periods it is advisable to water the plant extra. Feeding with a general garden fertilizer in spring encourages the plant's growth and health.
