F00003789
Origin
The Carex oshimensis 'Bunny Blue', originates from East Asia, and in particular, the Japanese island of Honshu. It is a species of sedge that is native to the mountainous regions of this area.
Characteristics
The Carex oshimensis 'Bunny Blue' is a graceful, deciduous perennial plant. The plant is characterised by its narrow, blue-grey leaves that can reach a height of approximately 30 centimetres. The strong texture and striking blue colour of the leaves provide a noticeable contrast in the garden all year round. In the spring, the plant produces small, inconspicuous brown flowers on curved stems.
Care
The Carex oshimensis 'Bunny Blue' prefers well-drained soil and can grow in both full sun and partial shade. It is a relatively low-maintenance plant that is drought tolerant and resistant to urban pollution. Although the 'Bunny Blue' can withstand significant cold, it is not completely frost-hardy, so winter protection may be required, especially in extremely cold conditions.
