Origin
The Peperomia polybotrya 'Raindrop', also known as Peperomia Raindrop, has its origin in the tropical rainforests of South America, mainly Peru and Ecuador. This evergreen plant is part of the Piperaceae family, consisting of over 1000 different species, spread across the southern hemisphere.

Characteristics
Characteristic of the Peperomia polybotrya 'Raindrop' are its heart-shaped, shiny, thick leaves that resemble raindrops, hence the nickname 'Raindrop'. The plant is compact and small, usually reaching a maximum height of 30 centimeters. The plant prefers indirect light, which helps maintain the vibrant green colour of the leaves. Unlike many other plant species, the Peperomia polybotrya 'Raindrop' rarely blooms, and is therefore mainly loved for its decorative leaves and compact size.

Care
Taking care of the Peperomia polybotrya 'Raindrop' is generally easy and suitable for novice plant carers. Like many tropical plants, it prefers high humidity but is also tolerant of drier conditions. The plant has moderate watering needs, where the top centimeter of the soil may dry out between watering. It grows best in a well-draining soil mix to prevent root rot and ideally should be kept at temperatures between 15 and 24 degrees Celsius. It is important that the plant is placed in a planter with drainage holes to allow excess water to drain away.
