Origin
The Peperomia caperata 'Rojo Grande' belongs to the Piperaceae family and is originally from the Amazon area in South America. This type of plant can be found in the wild in the rainforests of Brazil. They primarily grow under the canopy of large trees, where they benefit from the warmth and humidity of the environment.

Characteristics
Peperomia caperata 'Rojo Grande' is known for its striking red stems and deep grooved, heart-shaped leaves. The leaves have a remarkable dark green colour with a velvet-like texture and are usually up to 2 cm long. This compact plant usually grows to a height of 15 to 20 cm. Blooming usually occurs in the spring and early summer, with white or light yellow flower spikes appearing.

Care
Peperomia caperata 'Rojo Grande' requires a lot of indirect light but direct sunlight should be avoided as this can damage the leaves. They rely on high air humidity and the soil must be kept moist, but well-drained to prevent root rot. Fertilisers can be applied monthly during the growing season to encourage growth. The ideal temperatures for this plant are between 15 and 24 degrees Celsius. It is advisable to keep the plant slightly cooler in the winter.
