Brassia Black Pearl
1-Branch Red/Yellow
F00000017
Origin
The Alocasia Imperial Red, also known as the Elephant Ear, originally hails from the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia. Specifically, it comes from the Philippines and areas in Indonesia. The plant is part of the Araceae family, which is known for its diverse and extensive range of species.
Characteristics
The Alocasia Imperial Red is characterised by the deep red colour of the underside of its leaves. This colour contrasts sharply with the dark green top, giving the plant its unique appearance. The leaves have large, white veins and can grow up to 60 to 70 centimeters in length. Given ideal conditions, the plant can grow up to a few meters tall.
Care
The Alocasia Imperial Red likes a well-draining soil and a place with adequate indirect light. Direct sun exposure can scorch the leaves, so it is important to strike a balance. It is advisable to let the soil dry out between waterings to prevent root rot. Finally, the Alocasia Imperial Red prefers a high humidity environment, similar to its original, tropical habitat.
