Archontophoenix alexandrae (360-400)
Stem
4ARALRS02
Origin
The Phoenix roebelenii, also known as the Pygmy Date Palm, is originally from Southeast Asia. This palm species can be found in countries such as Laos, Thailand and the south of China. There, the palm tree grows in tropical and subtropical areas, often along rivers and streams.
Characteristics
Phoenix roebelenii is a small, refined palm tree, characterised by its slender, curved trunks with finely feathered leaves. The leaves are dark green in colour and, due to their fine branching, appear almost feather-like. The plant also produces small dates, although these are not edible. In open soil, the plant can reach a height of up to six meters.
Care
Taking care of the Phoenix roebelenii requires some attention. The palm prefers bright, indirect sunlight and well-draining soil. In addition, the plant needs regular watering, but the soil should be allowed to dry out between watering sessions. Overwatering can lead to root rot. Although the Phoenix roebelenii can withstand some cold, it is recommended to keep it indoors in climates where the temperature regularly drops below 10 degrees Celsius.
