Origin
The Cycas revoluta, also known as the Sago Palm, originates in Southern Japan. In this part of the world, the plant primarily grows on mountains and in forests. Since the late 1700s, the plant has spread worldwide and is known for its unique appearance and robust character.

Characteristics
A distinctive characteristic of the Cycas revoluta is the striking trunk, often reminiscent of a pineapple. The plant is characterised by its hard, shiny and deep green leaves that extend in an elegant fan shape. Mature specimens often reach a height between 1 metre and 7 metres and can also grow 3-4 metres wide. Although often referred to as a palm, the Cycas revoluta actually belongs to the cycads, a special group of plants that predates the dinosaurs.

Care
The Cycas revoluta requires a moderate amount of care. This plant needs light to partial shade and can tolerate drought. Ensure the soil always drains well to prevent root rot. During winter, the plant can be brought indoors as it cannot tolerate frost. The plant requires moderate watering- rewater only when the soil is dry. Regular fertilisation during the growing season promotes the health of the plant.
