Origin
The Philodendron Mamei originates from the tropical regions of South America. This plant is a member of the Araceae family of plants, which boasts a multitude of species and varieties. Specifically, the Philodendron Mamei is native to Ecuador and Peru, where the forested and humid climate supports the growth of this plant.
Characteristics
The Philodendron Mamei is well known for its large, heart-shaped leaves with silver spots. These silver spots appear as a kind of metallic painting on the leaves, which is absolutely unique to this species. The plant can grow up to 9 feet tall, with leaves that can reach about 2 feet in width. The plant is also commonly known as the 'Silver Cloud’.
Care
The Philodendron Mamei requires moderate light and moist soil to thrive. This plant favours indirect light, and the soil should be well-draining to help prevent root rot. Regular fertilising with a balanced plant feed encourages the growth and health of the plant. Regular watering is also necessary, but the plant should not be submerged in water. This plant is adapted to warmer weather, so it is important to keep the temperatures above 16°C and avoid sudden drops in temperature.
