Origin
The Philodendron El Choco is a unique species within the Philodendron family, originally from the El Choco region in Colombia. This South American rainforest area is characterised by its high humidity and large amount of rainfall. Here, the plant grows wild on the forest floor, sheltered by tall trees.
Characteristics
The Philodendron El Choco is a tropical climbing plant with large, shiny, heart-shaped leaves. The leaves are dark green in colour with white veins, creating a striking contrast. The stems of the plant are sturdy and can reach a considerable length over time. Older plants can also bloom, producing small white flowers.
Care
In the care of the Philodendron El Choco, it is important to consider its natural habitat. The plant needs high humidity and temperatures between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius. Use well-draining potting soil to prevent root rot and place the plant in indirect, bright light. Regular watering is essential, but allow excess water to drain away to prevent the soil from becoming too damp.
