Origin
The Haworthia fasciata 'Big Band' originally hails from South Africa, where it grows in rocky areas with lots of sunlight. This plant species belongs to the Asphodelaceae family, a family known for their succulents.
Characteristics
The Haworthia fasciata 'Big Band' can be recognized by its dark green, thick, pointed leaves with white stripes. These stripes have earned the plant the nickname 'Zebra plant' in English. The plant remains relatively small, with a maximum height of about 15 centimetres. Furthermore, this type is characterized by slow growth and white or light pink flowers that bloom in the summer months on an elongated stem.
Care
The Haworthia fasciata 'Big Band' requires relatively little maintenance. The plant thrives well in light conditions, but cannot withstand direct sunlight. Watering is hardly necessary: once a month in the warm months and even less in the winter. Overwatering can lead to root rot. The Haworthia fasciata 'Big Band' copes well with dry air and therefore only needs to be sprayed sporadically. It is not necessary to prune the plant.
