DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Echinopsis atacamensis 'Pasacana' is a type of cactus that originates from Argentina, Bolivia and Northern Chile. It primarily grows in the dry Andes mountains, at altitudes of more than 3000 metres. This cactus is named after the city of Pasacana in Southern Bolivia and is also known as Cardón grande.

Characteristics
The Echinopsis atacamensis 'Pasacana' is a tall, columnar cactus, and can grow as high as 10 metres. It is characterised by the presence of dark grey spikes that can grow up to 10 cm in length. The cactus has oval, dull green segments and produces large, white flowers that open at night and close by dawn. These flowers bloom from the late spring to the early summer.

Care
Despite its origin in the Andes mountains, the Echinopsis atacamensis 'Pasacana' adapts remarkably well to different environments. It requires well-drained soil and full sunlight for the majority of the day. Although the plant is very drought-tolerant, it benefits from regular watering during the growing season. It is strongly advised against watering the plant in winter, as this can lead to root rot. It is best to keep the plant in a planter so that it can be easily moved if necessary, to protect it from extreme weather conditions.
