Annually, the event "Director for a Day" takes place, organized by Hortiheroes. This initiative provides third and fourth-year students from all over the Netherlands the opportunity to shadow a director in the green sector for a day. On November 15th, Tamara shadowed Danny Gerritsen, the CEO of Nieuwkoop Europe. Tamara is a third-year student in Food Commerce & Technology at InHolland University in Delft. She participated in this day to gain more insight into various roles within a company, particularly managerial positions.
Throughout the day, Tamara participated in various meetings and, of course, received a tour of the company. At the end of the day, Tamara shared her experience: "I found it super enjoyable to be fully integrated into the company and participate in the director's activities. I noticed that my opinion was taken very seriously, and there was a lot of interest in my ideas and input. I don't have experience in this industry myself, but after this day, I have become more interested and see definite possibilities for working in this sector in the future. I would definitely recommend participation in 'CEO for a Day' to everyone and am very happy to have had this opportunity. It was incredibly fun and educational to be treated as a director in a sector where I have no experience. This gave me inspiration and motivation to develop myself to that level."
For Nieuwkoop Europe, it was also a successful day. Danny emphasizes, "We believe that talent is in everyone, regardless of the position someone holds. 'Talent' is therefore one of our strategic pillars focused on developing and supporting our employees and attracting new talent. CEO for a Day is an initiative that aligns very well with that philosophy. The decision to participate was quickly made. Looking back, I consider it an interesting and, for me as well, a educational day. And after Tamara's enthusiastic feedback, I think that today we have once again been able to inspire a young talent for a career in the green sector."
