Our tall greenhouse recently focused on pruning the Bucidas. How and why we do this, and what our best pruning tips are, can be seen and read here.
Pruning Bucida: why?
The Bucida buceras ‘Shady Lady’, also known as the Black Olive Tree, can grow to about 15 to 20 meters high. To keep the plant nicely shaped, it is necessary to prune the Bucida occasionally. Additionally, pruning the canopy helps improve air circulation in the tree and ensures that leaves deeper in the canopy receive sufficient light.
Pruning tips for the Bucida buceras ‘Shady Lady’
It is preferable to prune the tree in winter or early spring when the tree is not actively growing. Always use a clean and sharp pruning shears to prevent damage to the Bucida. How we tackle pruning the trees in our tall greenhouse can be seen next to this.
