In uncertain times, people will look to recognisable products and traditions. More than ever, we need a feeling of security. This is also reflected in interior design with soft grey pastel shades, while dark and reassuring colours bring balance to the whole design.

The 2022 Horticultural Trends are already known. As the first in a series of three, we take you on a tour of the Traditional Sentiment trend. Vintage and new are working together in this; the old lives on in the new. And that produces a stunning picture! Read on to find out what this means for horticulture.

Grandmother's interior translated to current day

Authentic furniture with a story is given a new look. The repetition of block, diamond and marble patterns complete the vintage look. Retro colours such as seventies orange and dark brown are also making a comeback.  Where before it was all about green leafy plants, today we see that flowers are allowed to bloom again. Ceramics and plants help give each other the right retro look and feel. Natural materials such as wool, bamboo and rattan are featured in the details.

Classic plants and modern pots

The Anthurium with its recognisable red, white, pink or even black flower calyxes is winning popularity again. A mustard yellow planter from Ter Steege as a counterpart brings the whole together in a surprising way. And who isn't familiar with the tough Platycerium bifurcatum? Also known as the Staghorn Fern, this plant comes into its own in the impressive 1240C planter. The classic terracotta pot is given a sleek and rounded shape.

The timeless Monstera deliciosa grows almost as if by itself. Give this jungle plant enough light, and the leaves with their recognisable holes will grow to an impressive size. This climber steals the show in one of the versatile an affordable pots from our Groove line.

Of course, the Sansevieria has played a glorious role in the interior for years, bringing tranquillity to the whole with minimalist vertical lines. There's a reason it's been popular for so long. The fact that it's easy to care for certainly helps.

Finally, our artificial wildflowers, with their soft appearance, give everything a hint of romance. Place them in a vase with a marble print for a bold and daring contrast.
