News from Costa Rica! A special family has recently been spotted in the rainforest that is protected by the Work with Nature – Adopt Rainforest Foundation. As proud partner of this foundation we would like to tell you more about it.
Foundation Work with Nature – Adopt Rainforest has been working for more than 11 years to protect the rainforest in Costa Rica. They do this by buying up pieces of land with rainforest in order to prevent deforestation and by stimulating involvement and awareness among the local population. The foundation now protects 224 hectares of rainforest. One of the foundation's initial objectives was to allow the monkey to return to the area. Primates, such as the howler monkey and capuchin monkey, belong in the Costa Rican rainforest, but have long since disappeared due to overhunting and deforestation. Until a few years ago, when a male howler monkey was observed. Recently, a female howler monkey was discovered and last month a local biologist spotted a baby howler monkey! The first howler monkey family has settled in the Adopt Rainforest area. That promises a lot for the future.
