Origin
The Calathea ornata 'Sanderiana' is originally a plant from the tropical rainforest of South America, specifically Brazil. Its unique appearance and beautiful leaves are a reflection of the immense, colourful ecosystem in which it naturally occurs. The plant belongs to the Marantaceae family and is named after the Belgian botanist 'Sander'. The Calathea ornata 'Sanderiana' is also known as the 'Pinstripe Plant'.

Characteristics
The Calathea ornata 'Sanderiana' is characterised by its elongated, dark green leaves with finely engraved lines of pink to purple colour. These stripes, or 'pin-stripes', give the plant its nickname 'Pinstripe Plant'. The plant can grow up to 60 cm in height, with leaves that can reach a length of up to 30 cm. The underside of the leaf is adorned by a rich, purple hue, which contrasts beautifully with the top side of the leaf.
